Postnatal physiotherapy in Singapore

Postnatal care with Physiotherapy

Feel one with your body again, for you & your baby.

Recovery after childbirth is no joke – let’s face it, getting back in shape after bearing a child is no easy feat! But luckily, physiotherapy can make the process much easier.

Our physiotherapists can help with strengthening your core muscles and increasing flexibility to help return your body to its pre-pregnancy strength.

How can physiotherapy help with postpartum care?

Physiotherapy is an invaluable resource for women during the postpartum period, alleviating many of the challenges they commonly face. It can help to ease back and pelvic pain, improve sleeping position and promote relaxation, all of which are essential for mothers coming to terms with the physical strain of childbirth.

Physiotherapy can also aid in recovering range and strength in areas such as the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, helping mother’s build their fitness again safely. Even something as simple as optimal positioning for breastfeeding can be improved through physiotherapy.

So when it comes to postpartum months, take the proactive approach and look for our women’s health specialists today!

What are common postnatal conditions that we treat?

Breastfeeding issues

Suffer from conditions such as mastitis, blocked ducts and engorgement?

Get back to breastfeeding with ease.

Physiotherapy is a powerful tool to utilise in helping these mothers get back on track. Through the use of specialised equipment such as therapeutic ultrasound, inflammation can swiftly be reduced. In addition, massage therapy is an incredibly effective method for reducing swelling - indeed, physiotherapists are able to both perform and teach this technique for maximum efficacy.

Urinary Incontinence

Suffer from poor bladder control after giving birth?

Conquer incontinence and reclaim your life.

Pelvic floor rehabilitation through physiotherapy can help you regain control over urinary incontinence. Physios will teach you specific relaxation and strengthening techniques to give you greater muscular control and stability to get back to enjoying everyday activities as soon as possible.

Shoulder & back pains

Constantly aching from caring for the little one?

Erase the pain of new motherhood to enjoy this magical time.

We aim to not only alleviate the symptoms but also get to the root cause of the problem, such as easing muscle tension through manual therapy and correcting postures to avoid straining yourselves during breastfeeding or carrying the baby.

FAQs

It is recommended that you wait at least six weeks after giving birth before starting postnatal physiotherapy. However, this may vary depending on individual circumstances, and you should consult with a physiotherapist or your healthcare provider to determine the best time to start.

During a postnatal physiotherapy session, our women’s health physiotherapists will assess your condition, address any concerns or questions you may have, and develop a customised treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. This may include exercises, manual therapy, education on postural and body mechanics, and advice on safe return to activities.

Yes, postnatal physiotherapy can help with a range of pelvic floor issues, such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain. Our specialised team can provide exercises, education, and other treatments to help you manage these issues and improve your pelvic floor function.
