How does physiotherapy work?

Physiotherapy focuses on treating the structural components of the body, such as muscles, joints and ligaments, looking at relative strength vs weakness, tightness and laxity vs length.

Pain is usually a symptom of dysfunction in the body, and our team of physiotherapists focuses on using natural hands-on treatment, corrective exercises, and other treatment methods to address this.

What happens during a physiotherapy session?

Full Body Assessment

Your initial session begins with a holistic full body assessment that understands how you move, your posture, and your symptoms. This helps us diagnose the root cause of your symptoms, and guides our treatment plan to help you move better.

Corrective Exercises

After releasing the tension in your body, our physiotherapists develop and recommend tailored exercises and stretches to help you build core strength, mobility, function, stability, and balance. This aims to help speed up your recovery, and lower the risk of recurrence.

FAQ

The number of sessions required is determined by the severity of your condition and will vary from person to person. Following your consultation, our practitioners will be able to provide you with more specific information about the treatment.

Dress comfortably for the session such as sports clothing. Depending on the location of your symptoms, you may be asked to remove some of your clothing in order to better assess your body and its movements. If necessary, we will provide a clean hospital gown.

Do bring along any medical notes, blood tests, X-rays, MRI results, or a list of medications you are taking (if any).
